Arlette Crump, M.S.Ed., IMC

Elementary School Guide

Born in Guyana, South America, Arlette began her career in education in 1998 at an elementary school in Spanish Harlem, New York City where she taught a Gifted and Talented class for three years before moving to McDonough, Georgia, with her family in 2001.

After moving to Georgia, Arlette taught various grade levels at two schools in Atlanta. During her tenure, she served on committees as a Design Team Leader, Grade Level Chair, contributed to the Professional Learning Committee, and mentored new teachers to improve learning outcomes and school programs.

Leaving the public school system, Arlette Crump worked for Amplified Education as an Educational Consultant and later contracted with a Montessori school where she became intrigued with the Montessori method, and attended the Center for Montessori Guided Studies and obtained her Montessori credential.

With more than 25 years of experience in education under her belt , Arlette has a B.A. in English Literature/Media Studies from Hunter College, and an M.S.Ed. from The City College of New York, School of Education.  Arlette also holds MACTE  teaching certificates for both lower and upper elementary (ages 6 to 12) Montessori programs; she also holds a MACTE leadership credential.

Michael Crump, B.A., IMC

Upper School Guide

Michael has completed his elementary training with the Center for Guided Montessori Studies, a MACTE certification in the Lower and Upper Elementary Program. He is a graduate of Ashford University, IA, with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science and a minor in Education. Before joining MVI, he worked for Atlas Van Lines as a corporate Internet Marketing Manager for their Atlanta agency. He has also worked for WebMD, as a Quality Assurance Analyst, and TheKnot.com in New York City, as a Webmaster. With his expertise in business management, Michael brings real-world assets to the school. It has always been Michael’s desire to be in the classroom and pursue his love for education.

Born in the United Kingdom and raised in London, England, Michael is a diehard Liverpool fan. Leaving his homeland, Mr. Crump left behind the pro-soccer circuit which he and his brother were once part of, and immigrated to the United States, where he lived in New York City for some time before moving to Georgia with his wife and kids.

When he is not kicking a ball around or coaching recreational players, Michael teaches private vocal lessons and directs music programs at the school. A few of his accomplishments in the music industry has landed him on the stage with Mariah Carey, Josh Groban, and Foreigner, where he directed a large choir at these performances.

Michael is also a contributing author and a speaker for the Montessori Family Alliance.

Mary Karp

Teacher Assistant, IMC certified

Mary has completed her elementary teacher assistant training with the Center for Guided Montessori Studies. She attended Clayton State University, where she pursued a degree in Psychology. Before joining Montessori Village, she worked in freight forwarding logistics as an Import Coordinator and has a long background in sales and customer relations.

Mary lives in McDonough, GA., with her son, Aiden, and her dog, Pepe. She loves nature, animals, long walks with her dog, and collecting old and rare books. Mary’s ultimate dream is to travel the world, making a difference in the lives of women, children, and animals.

Hanan Salem, B.A.

Teacher Assistant, IMC certified

In 2011, Hanan graduated from Irbid National University in Irbid Jordan, receiving her bachelor’s degree in Psychology Counseling and Education. While in college she completed a 6-month training at King Abdullah II School for Excellence, a boarding and day school for student in grades 7-12 located in Irbid, Jordan. Her training consisted of assisting students with challenges in home-life and learning disabilities. She helped find better ways for these students. After graduating, Hanan worked as an elementary teacher in the small town of At-Taibah in Irbid. She also assisted with homeschooling children ages 6-14 before relocating to the United States.

Hanan was born in Irbid, Jordan, and in 2015, she moved to the United States. She is currently residing in Covington, GA with her husband and two sons. She likes to support charities that assist with the education of children who have immigrated to the United States from Jordan. She loves helping to bridge the gap for the youngest learners. Her passion also includes teaching her two sons how to make delicious, healthy foods and staying in tune with their culture.

Mrs. Hanan integrates Arabic in the language program at Montessori Village International.

Elizabeth Nieves

Spanish Teacher

Elizabeth was born in Puerto Rico. She studied Business Administration and Management at American University of Puerto Rico. With 16 years of experience in the financial sector, Elizabeth worked as an Operations Supervisor at a banking institution. Her professional background has helped her develop strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Now living in McDonough, Georgia, Elizabeth is excited to share her passion for the Spanish language and Hispanic culture with her students, helping them build meaningful connections with the Spanish-speaking world.

Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family. She strongly believes in the importance of fostering family unity, a value that also inspires her supportive and collaborative approach in the classroom.
